ARCADIA, Calif. – He had not won in over 26 months and ridden by Joel Rosario, the comeback 5-
year-old chestnut overwhelmed his opposition, showing much early speed, en route to a 3¼ lengths victory, while timed in 1:13.11, which blistered Santa Anita’s previous dirt track mark of 1:13.71 set by
Son Of A Pistol on April 4, 1998
Square Eddie raced six times with little success in 2009 while beset with various ailments including a
breathing disorder. |
Winning trainer Doug O’Neill was ebullient following the victory. We’re thinking big races with him,
Santa Anita Handicap or Dubai.”
Doug O’Neill has been using the new revolutionary bit since November 2010 called the Winning
Tongue Plate Bit with amazing winning results including Square Eddie. The new bit prevents horses
getting their tongues over the bit and stops displacement of the soft palate and helps and improves
horses with breathing problems and other problems.
I personally have never liked tongue ties. Some horses tongues turn blue and there has never been
an alternative until now. I have been totally amazed with the results from using this bit. We are getting
winners at big odds it is a huge breakthrough for USA racing.
